Day in the sun for Harborough!

A great day in the late autumn sunshine
Harborough hosted a triangular friendly against Hinckley and Melton Mowbray. The lads seemed eager to get stuck in after last weeks rained off game.

Game 1 versus Hinckley
From the start the Harbro lads had the upper hand, their forward power was just too much for Hinckley to handle, helped no doubt by the return to the team of Thomas Melody in the front row. Harbro’s poor first half tackling let Hinckley stay in touch, however with some fantastic attacking support play Thomas marked his return with two first half tries, with another try by the Scrum Half Fabian Boddy they first half ended with a 3 – 1 lead.
Hinckley were not to be easily beaten, they stepped up their game pegging Harboro back whenever Harbro scored, Harboro’s tackle count improved and kept Hinckley chasing the game with some notable tackles by Matthew Brucciani, Bradley Crane, Elliot Coxon and Alex McGregor. With two tries from Charlie Power and a second for Fabian Boddy, Harboro won this very competitive and exciting game 6 – 5.

Game 2 versus Melton Mowbray
Melton were impressive in their game against Hinckley wining 3 tries to 1, but Harboro had a plan to neutralize the impressive Melton number 9 and 10 players and the team played it perfectly, Fabian Boddy gave his opposite number a torrid time and Matthew Brucciani tackled the number 10 out of the game. With their play makers not knowing which way was up the rest of the Melton team were easily contained with a ferocious, rampaging display of confident rugby by Harboro. Tries came from Bradley Crane (x2) and Fabian Boddy, but the whole team were tackling and playing their best rugby of the season so far. Only a lapse in concentration at the end of the game allowed the Melton number 9 to score a fantastic individual try. But the game was won and won well 3 tries to 1.
A great morning of rugby.
