U12 Meteors storm through in final match

U12 Meteors travelled to Stamford for a triangular with the hosts and Newark RFC and it was the fellow visitors who formed the first opposition. Newark were a well drilled outfit and clearly used Miracle Grow liberally, given the size of many of their players. The Meteors however were not overwhelmed and started brightly, using the back line to best effect on the narrow pitch. The first half ended try-less.
In the second half, Newark pressure told and they scored down the right wing.
Meteors ventured into the opposition half and were awarded a penalty. Quick thinking from George Hallam and with a tap and go he charged through to score and level the game. Newark weren't finished though and with the last play they scored again to win 2:1

The second match was against the hosts and again Meteors fronted up well. Stamford scored first but Thomas Kemp (TK) ran up the left wing to score and level. After a period of pressure, with Patrick Bairstow almost breaking through Stamford were awarded a scrum deep in their own territory. The makeshift Meteors pack, who had fronted up well all day, turned it over and scrum half Ewan Jones sniped through the sea of legs to score and take the lead. Stamford came back into the game though and were able to level, the game finishing 2:2.

The final match was again against Stamford and for the third game in a row the opposition were the first to score. TK levelled with a fine individual effort. In the second half, following another fine run with TK combining well with jack Vernum, the ball broke to Hallam who used his strength to power through to score. meteors held on and finished with a 2:1 win.
