First try conceeded in three years proves costly

The Under 12’s had not conceded a try in almost three years of County Cup rugby and were also after their third successive title. It started well, with a 6:0 victory over Market Bosworth (tries by Thomas Kemp, Tyler Smith, Jake Sterland (2) and Henry Joule (2).
Next up were South Leicester. This game was much more disjointed with lots of interruptions and re-starts and Harborough struggled to get into their rhythm. They still won by 3 tries to nil though, with scores from Ewan Jones, Kemp and Sterland.
In the final they faced Hinckley, a repeat of the previous season’s finale. This year however the Hinckley boys had grown and looked a couple of years older than the Harborough boys. In a match that was played out mainly amongst the forwards, Hinckley’s greater size proved crucial and they dominated at the breakdown, never letting Harborough get into their stride. Hinckley took the lead early in the first half and their lead was never really under threat. They won every scrum and line-out and in doing so kept possession. The pacey Harborough backs never really got a look-in and despite throwing everything at Hinckley, 1:0 remained the final score so Hinckley won the cup.
It was a fantastic record and fitting that it should be broken in the cup final against our friends and rivals from Hinckley. Harborough have enjoyed some good matches with the Hinckley boys and look forward to trying to avoid their large forwards on a full size pitch at Under 13!
