Panthers faced many strong streamed teams at the County Cup prelims for U12’s at the Vipers. Four short very physical games played, the boys showed strength, teamwork and discipline in challenging circumstances.
First game against Leicester Forest they lost 3-0, which Panthers were unlucky not to finish 2-1 as a try was disallowed meaning heads and focus dropped slightly allowing the opposition to score quickly just before full time.
2nd Game against the host Vipers Panthers won 1-0, but could have been much more, the game was short cut due to a number of injuries.
3rd Game against Market Bosworth saw some brilliant play, passing the ball fluidly scoring the first try, finishing 1-1 against a physical opponent.
4th and final game against Northampton Old Scouts Panthers scored the first try and drew the game 1-1. This nearly ended in a win for the opposition in the final minute as the panthers defended on their line wave after wave of attempts. The simply outstanding defense with the whole team working as a unit prevented the Old Scouts grounding the ball. The jubilation & relief cheer from all of the Panthers could be heard throughout the whole ground.
