U12 Sharks County Festival report

County Cup Prelims - MHRUFC Sharks – U12’s 04-11-2018
The Market Harborough Under 12 Sharks travelled to Oakham for their County Cup Preliminary Round.
Matched in a competitive group with four other teams, the Sharks kicked their campaign off against
Loughborough, a 3-0 victory was enjoyed by the team. However, they were very aware of two much
tougher games to follow during the day.
As the rain began to fall Harborough kicked off against the hosts Oakham, who were immediately put
under pressure by Harborough’s passing and running game. Two great team tries left Harborough leading
at the break. However, Oakham bought on a couple of big units, who despite spirited tackling, managed
to level the scores in the final seconds of the game, a draw 2-2, in a game Harborough should probably
have won.
The third match was against Hinckley, Harborough failed to capitalise on good early pressure, the
forwards produced their best performance of the season turning the ball over regularly. The pressure told
eventually with a well deserved try and a 1-0 victory.
The final game against Ashby saw the Sharks best performance of the day, with slick passing and direct
running, Harborough managed to record a 4-0 victory. The Coaches were delighted with the attitude and
hard work from the Sharks who deserved to go home unbeaten. Well done boys!
