U12's secure 2nd place at County Festival

Things got underway with a convincing win over Lutterworth, a big physical team who earlier in the season had given us some problems at the breakdown, an area we have since worked on, the boys did themselves proud and continued to do so throughout the tournament in this area, rucking and counter rucking with conviction.

Next were Ashby, a very physical defensive team and probably our biggest rivals to date. An early try from Kick off put us on the back foot and we struggled to get over the gain line for the rest of the game. A very physical twelve minutes of rugby.

The following games against Market Bosworth and Oadby were both convincing wins. An opportunity for us to show the strength in depth that we have within our squad with some of our emerging players stepping up and not for the first time this season, showing us what they can do. This bodes well for the future.

This put us in second place in group B, with one more game against Melton who were second in group A. Another big, physical team who after a scrappy first half, we managed to find some shape and beat them two tries to one.

This put us in second place in the tournament as Ashby and Loughborough came joint first.

Throughout the day it was obvious that the U12's are moving away from the mini rugby ethos and embracing the modern game. I think we played Rugby with shape and with insight often not present in other teams. Something that can only improve next season especially with the addition of mid week training.

The coaching team are extremely proud of the boys and the way that they are enthusiastic about learning and moving forward.
