Harborough return home unbeaten

The Mischiefs continued their impressive unbeaten run this session with an emphatic win over a strong Oadby Wyggs side. Pressing from the kick off, an impressive forward display from Tom England, Harry Fordham and Matthew Liddle drove through the Wyggs defence, from the ruck Olly John combined with Alfie Hilton to pass the ball to Will Salvesen for the first try. Oadby Wyggs stung by the opening try fought back, but were held out with good defensive tackling from Noah Goodwin and Max Marriott-Clarke. From another turnover ball Jacob Dixon and Joey Stamp combined to move the ball to the wing and a waiting Salvesen, who ran from the halfway line for his second try. Half time saw the introduction of Charlie Latham, Shay Harley, Stan Cockerill and Barnaby Smith. Revitalised after the break Oadby Wyggs bounced back with an early try before the Mischiefs re-imposed themselves. The win for the Mischiefs was ensured when Cockerill wrestled free with the ball, wove through the Wyggs defence and finished flamboyantly in the corner.

In their first game against Wyggs, Rascals went into an early lead after a strong run from Tyler Smith saw him finish in the corner. Rascals had their work cut out to keep out Oadby who were dominating the scrums but excellent work from Tom Kirk meant that some ball was still won in that area. Some courageous tackling by Joseph Smith and George Strevens did keep Oadby out but they managed to score to level the scores at half time. In the second half Rascals saw more of the ball and Giaan Mann and Dom Alston managed to get the backs going and eventually the ball came out to Tyler Smith after good work by Jalen Le Mar and Tyler scored to see Rascals take the lead. Some further great defensive play saw Rascals hang on to seal the win.

A very physical second match saw injuries to Dom Alston, Sam Bullock and Tyler Smith and Oadby went into an early lead with The Rascals having to defend for most of the half and they went into half time 1-0 down. In the second half Rascals had much more ball and after some great play by Sam Bills the ball went over to Patrick Bairstow who finished strongly in the corner to level the scores. Francis Hunt making his debut got involved in the game and showed some good hands on occasions. Oadby did however score next to take a 2-1 lead but the Rascals again recycled the ball out wide to Patrick Bairstow who ran half the length of the pitch to score in the corner. Rascals pushed hard for the winning score but Oadby held out and the game finished 2-2.
