Under 11 Meteors and Rockets hosted touring side Maccelsfield and local rivals Hinckley on a sunny day at Northampton Road.
Fresh (?) from watching the best of Leicestershire and Northamptonshire battle it out to a draw at Welford Road the previous day, Maccelsfield RFC U11's joined us in a triangular with Hinckley.
Meteors faced them first and the least said the better really about their first performance together. Macclesfield put 4 tries past the Meteors without reply in a comfortable victory. Meanwhile Hinckley and the Rockets fought out a very keenly contested 0:0 draw. The Harborough squads then swapped pitches.
Rockets played Maccelsfield and were desperately unlucky, conceeding a try in the final play of the game to lose 1:0.
Meteors had at last woken up and were a different side from the previous game, winning 3:1 against Hinckley. A good run from Harry Fordham saw Matthew Humphry peel out of the ensuing maul to drive over and score. This was soon followed up by a second, with the customary Hooper sidestep bringing him within sight of the line from where George Hallam took over and powered through to score. In the second half it was a closer affair, but Jacob Dixon added the third. Hinckley scored a consolation try towards the end.
In the final games, Macclesfield and Hincley shared a draw whilst Rockets narrowly beat Meteors in a developmental game for both sides.
