Happy Days in Holt.
MHRUFC U11’s set out on their annual tour on Friday for a weekend of activates at the Kingswood Centre in Overstand, Norfolk before following on to the Holt RFC festival on Sunday.
After and exhausting couple of days Harborough’s 2 mixed teams performed exceedingly well to lift the plate trophy and finish narrow runners up in the Cup.
Hurricanes
Played 3 won 2 drew 1, top of pool
vs Holt Tigers won 3-2
vs Cheshunt won 6-0
vs Ampthill Tigers drew 2-2
In cup final faced Holt Lions and lost 4-0
Rockets
Played 4 won 3 lost 1
Vs Holt Lions lost 1-0
vs Ampthill Lions won 1-0
vs Stevenage Town won 6-1
vs West Norfolk won 4-0
In Plate final faced Holt Tigers and won 4-2
Over a weekend of several outstanding moments on and off the pitch the boys and sometimes the parents resolve was tested and may life lessons were learnt. Here are the top 10 things we learnt from our Tour......
1. A master brewer and support vehicle is an essential part of modern day touring.
2. Both Leat junior and senior have no morals when it comes to crab fishing
3. Old Scouts rugby club only require 2 hours sleep a night and like to play indoor football at 5.15 am
4. Charlie Dean is in fact spider man
5. Home advantage is one thing, home refereeing advantage is another
6. At 40+ you are too old to sleep in bunk beds
7. Modern day students don’t drink as much as when I was university
8. Cromer’s No.1 Fish Bar is outstanding
9. £1.49 is a good price for whole cooked chicken post 10.30pm
10. Ben Marlow will always look out for his mates
