MHRUFC Hurricanes U11’s Joules Cup

The visitors came to MH looking for their first ever win in this competition and the Olney U11’s had their strongest ever line up ready to face us. Both squads had 3 teams so the format was simple with all 3 playing each other with the collective results providing the overall winner.

Our first match saw us up against an extremely well drilled Olney team that simply muscle us off the field with their strength and physicality and they were soon 3-0 up, our kids settled down and managed to secure a consolation try from George T to end up 1-3. The second game was a repeat of the first but against a stronger team still with our boys and girls having to spend most of the game defending a continuous barrage of attacks from Olney.
Some valiant defending by all of the Hurricanes kept the score down to 0-4 and credit to Emma in her first game with the U11’s, got stuck in against a mammoth opposition. After a much needed morale boosting talk from coaches Alex and Mike the Hurricanes were read for their final test and the coaches must have done their job with the Hurricanes taking an early lead from a try by George T. Olney came back into the game but them some excellent link up play saw George H go over the whitewash to give us the lead again only to be thwarted by a last ditchdive to the line by Olney to go in 2-2 at half time. We then handed over to the All Blacks to play the second half and the game finished 4-4. A hard day at the office for all concerned but it has given us some food for thought in the training sessions coming up.

George Timmins, Elliott Powell, Gray Thomas, Isaac Beetham, Jacob Shearing, Joel Houghton, Jack Burton, Marcus Krause, George Deely, Cooper Hallam, Millie Green, Will Hubbard, Emma Williams
