At the first Regional Cup Festival for the Harborough Under 15s this season, the girls faced 3 x 20 minute games against Olney, ON's and Lutterworth.
In the first game against ON's tries from Tabitha Copson and Gina Watson matched the oppositions score but an additional 2 conversions by ON's meant they won 14 points to Harborough 10.
Against Lutterworth who only had 7 players, Harborough began to settle down and show their true colours. With superb tackling, awesome line speed and amazing handling, particularly from the new players, Harborough won this game 36-0. Try scorers: Gina Watson (1 + conv) Hannah West (2 + 2con) Tabitha Copson (3)
Playing Olney/Peterborough./Wellingborough (with only 7 players) in the third and final match, Harborough were again able to give the less experienced players more game time. it was great to see both Cassie Holyoak and Olivia Marriott score along with Hannah West forcing herself through several players to slam the ball down after a frustrating period of play when however the girls got the ball over, a try wasn't allowed!
All the girls played superbly and there were several storming runs from Rose Smith, Lucy Gardiner and Rosie Tremlett. Playing in her first ever match, Imogen Howard showed strength in breakdowns and scrums and lots of potential for the future as did Eve Pollard who gamely carried on despite being on the receiving end of some thumping tackles.
