Harborough Under 15s girls win 3 out of 3

Match Report and Ladies Day 2 November 2014

Market Harborough Rugby Club celebrated the visit of the World Cup and held their first ever Ladies day on Sunday.

Girls and boys had a chance to have a photo with the World Cup and girls to take part in taster rugby session at the club.

This was soon followed by a Ladies Touch game.

Great FUN was had by all and these events led towards the finale ‘The U15s Regional Cup’

Inspired by the day’s activities the Harborough Girls hosted the Regional Cup V Lutterworth, Old Northamptonions (ONs) and Olney.

Despite the torrential rain in the first match V Lutterworth the Harborough Girls put on a powerful performance with tries by Tabitha Copson 3, Sabine Brewster 2, Hannah West and Solitaire Moonen-Leapeatt. Final score MH 35 Lutterworth 0

The second match V ONs was much closer and both teams battled to get on top with ONs rucking and clearing out causing MH to turnover ball and MH being dominant in the scrum and midfield causing problems for ONs.

MH drew first blood and from a great scrum, the ball was won by MH on ONs ball and was quickly fed to the backs with strong runs from Cassie Hollyoak and Catriona Deeley which ended with a ruck 5M out from the ONs line where Tabitha Copson struck making it 5-0.

In the second half Harborough hit first with strong forward play and quick ruck ball finding Tahei Baikeinuku who finished in some style making it 10-0.

ONs never die attitude brought reward with a fine individual score by Olivia Derrin.

A very competitive match with not much between teams played in good spirit. Final score MH 10 ONs 5.

Harborough left their best performance for the last game v Olney. Harborough’s forwards dominated the set piece and rucks allowing quick ball and scoring opportunities for backs and forwards alike. Harborough’s scrum had been dominating all opponents winning every scrum but one, this gave the platform for Harborough to get in to the heart of the Olney defence with great driving play from Lucy Gardner and Rose Smith allowing Tabitha Copson to score.

Harborough camped on the Olney 22 before Alice Lyles put Tabitha Copson in for her second try of the game.

Harborough’s backs not to be outdone by their forwards and proved too strong for Olney with great runs from Tahei Baikeinuku and Hannah West making space for Tabitha Copson to score her hat trick.

The forwards were to have the last say with great support play from Gina Watson and Rose Smith to allow Solitaire Moonen-Leapeatt to get Harborough’s final try of the day. Hannah West conversion.

Final score MH 22 Olney 0

In all a great day for the Girls/Ladies section within the club. Great effort by all.
