1sts Take Bonus Point Win

On a warm afternoon with Harborough playing with the breeze the home side soon worked themselves into an attacking position and Joe Lafferty scored out wide on the left. 5-0 Harborough soon added a Monty Maule drop goal 8-0. Olney struck back with a converted try of their own try of their own. 8-7. From a five-metre attacking scrum and some neat footwork Harborough extended the lead with a try and conversion and as half time approached, they led 15-7.

Sam Staff drove over early in the second half from a five-metre scrum, an interception soon followed and led to the try that gave Harborough bonus point. Olney scored another try after some direct work by their forwards and converted to get themselves back into the game.
As in previous weeks the refereeing around the height of tackles has come in for some commentary in the clubhouse. This week it was Harborough who were the beneficiaries and the resulting kick deep into Olney territory led to a catch a drive and a customary Tim Waterfield try.

After a yellow card for Harborough for a deliberate knock on, Olney’s quick thinking saw them over for their third converted try of the afternoon.

Olney were chasing a bonus point of their own now, but a loose pass led to another interception try for Harborough and the home team ran out 41-21 winners.

Harborough were always in control of this match, but very aware that Olney had some big forwards capable of breaking through Harborough’s defence and had to concentrate throughout the game.
