A tremendous effort by Harborough Colts, in the County Cup Final, saw them edged out by Hinckley 24-30 .

Harborough Colts travelled to Leicester hoping to finish the season off with a victory in the County Cup Final.
The afternoon's weather was warm, dry and very little wind, ideal for the feast of running rugby that unfolded.

Throughout the first half the teams were evenly matched and it was Harborough who went into the break 12-8 ahead.

The early periods of the second half were all Harborough's as they ran the ball wide and crashed their forwards up the middle of the pitch and the south Leicestershire side were on the scoreboard again to lead 17 -8.

The game changed it's course with a blistering solo try from deep within Hinckley's half, as centre Morgan Wayte McPherson broke clear rounded the defence and scored under the posts. Hinckley were back in the game at 17-15.

Harborough tried to rally but Hinckley had the bit between their teeth and full back Riley Gilbert beat the defensive cover to score in the corner to move the black and yellows 17-20 ahead. Two more Hinckley tries quickly followed and daylight began to open up between the teams. 17-30. Harborough began to penalised for holding onto the ball on the ground too long, but this was mainly due to some sharp work from the Hinckley team. As one or two Harborough passes went astray, Hinckley took advantage.

The Harborough pack started to rally and Kai Harley, DJ Samra and Finn Cowan punched holes in the Hinckley defence with George Williams sweeping along the backline looking for attacking opportunities.

With a few minutes remaining Charlie Barkworth shimmied over the line for Harborough and converted his try to close the gap to 24-30.
However, time was against the team in black and Hinckley saw the game.

The lads put a colossal effort in during the game and the large Harborough support at Welford Road were immensely proud of the achievement of the team. It's been another fantastic season for the Colts. Thanks from the Club to the players, supporters and coaches you have represented the club fantastically. Take a break and we go again nest season.
