U15s v Leicester Forest

Market Harborough U15s finally made it home and played a familiar opponent in Leicester Forest. Our last game against them a few weeks ago saw Harborough lacking and Forest ending up significantly on top with a 48-12 win. Not this week - with revenge in mind Harborough looked a totally different outfit and the game was tight all the way.

From the starting whistle Harborough came out with determination putting on pressure and resulting in a try for Pope which was converted by Pollard. Forest then gathered themselves and Harborough's few missed tackles allowed them to score twice and converted one. This seemed to wake up the hosts and a period of attacking pressure saw Holland cross the whitewash and Plooard converted. Back Forest came and just before the half time whistle they scored the fifth try of the 30 mins. The end of the half saw Harborough trail 14-19.

The second half was scrappy for the first few minutes for both sides but the first change of the score board was in Harborough's favour - Garner crossing but unfortunately the conversion was short. Despite a great turn over ball by Stacey Smith the rest of the half saw tit for tat tries for both teams in a very even contest - first Forest scored then Harborough ( Van Amersfoort), back to Forest and finally Ben Marlow. so with minutes left of this second half Harborough led 33-31. The final score however was a penalty kick successfully taken by Forest and the whistle brought the nail biter to the end with one point separating the teams. Harborough 33 - Forest 34.

A great game of rugby to watch and a game which showed how much progression the team has made in recent weeks.
