Try Extravanza at Kesteven

The u13s travelled to Grantham for an away fixture against Kesteven, and enjoyed a try extravaganza. The forwards applied pressure from the off with Huw Davies stealing Kesteven’s line out ball, Henry Povoas driving forward and James Melody crashing over for the first score. Tom Pope hit the conversion.

Another steal at the line out led to the second try, this time Povoas grabbing the score. Mathew Stamp was next up, taking the ball from the base of a scrum and pinballing over under the posts. Pope hit the conversion again. The power of the Harborough scrum was behind the next try, this time Povoas was the beneficiary to take the score to 24 – 0.

Hooker Harry Grimmett made some cracking breaks and drove the ball forward to set up the next try for Povoas. The next try was a real peach. Povoas went on a storming run, offloaded to Cameron Jordan, and carried on in support to take the ball again before releasing the ball to Davies to drive over. Jordan and Povoas combined again with lovely passing and support running for the number 8 to score. The final try of the half went to Will Hallam who made a scorching break and ducked a tackle to make the score 44 – 0.

Kesteven started the second half with renewed intent and continued to put in the effort against a Harborough side on fire. Povoas ran two thirds of the pitch to rack up the next score, with Pope again converting. Max Dalby put himself on the score sheet next, crashing through the centre for the try under the posts. Dalby then converted his own score.

Warren Mills on the second row made a powerful drive and proved impossible to bring down. He almost made the line himself, but offloaded the ball to Povoas to score. Thomas Mercer hit the conversion.

Jordan capped his day with yet another strong running break, this time making his way over for the final try of the game. The Harborough side put in a marvellous display to beat a quality side, with the final score at 70 – 0.
