The u14s met some good opposition in Nuneaton and put on another display of running rugby on a bright autumn morning.
Harborough started quickly and moved the ball between forwards and backs from ruck to ruck before Ed Duggan finished the move with a searing break to score under the posts. Will Hallam converted.
More quick ball from Tom Mercer in the rucks and James Melody wreaking destruction at the breakdown resulted with a try for Hallam and then two more for Duggan. With players in different positions and popping up all over the field, Harborough were mixing up the play.
Duggan’s hat trick score was the pick of the crop, with dancing feet, balance and speed finding a way through the visitors’ defence. Two more conversions from Hallam and the half time score was 24 – 0.
Nuneaton put on some spirited defence in the second half and got some forward momentum going, scoring first with a penalty to get points on the board. Harborough were working hard to find a way through and Huw Davies picked the lock with a line out steal and sprint for the line. Davies scored again with a similar powerful length of the field run and Hallam also completed his brace. The final score was 39–3.
