The visitors from Stamford were a few players short so a few Harborough boys played for the opposition to give everyone a good game.
The early exchanges were quite even. Tom Pope kicked well for field position and a break from Spencer Derry resulted in a try in the corner for Ed Duggan. Pope converted. Stamford wasted no time in coming back at Harborough and a quick tap penalty saw the home side conceding a try to one of their own players on loan to the visitors!
Harborough managed to cross the whitewash again before half time, Henry Povoas driving over after a series of rucks.
The game stayed close in the early part of the second half and Harborough were flustered as they went down to fourteen players for 10 minutes – the result of persistent offences at the breakdown. That provided the trigger for Harborough to fire. Povoas crashed over for his second; Cameron Jordan made a fine break to offload to his Number 8 for a try; a third in a few minutes took the score rapidly up to 27 – 5. Keiron Silcott converted, having switched from Full Back to Hooker.
Huw Davies found some gaps through the centre and offloaded for Povoas to bag another. Harry Grimmett put in a great performance in defence and attack, closing down the opposition and careering through the field. Will Nijjer scored in the last few minutes following stolen line out ball and Silcott converted again to make the final score 41 – 5.
