The first quarter was close. Both sides were strong in defence and well matched at the set piece. Minor infringements from Harborough kept them from building much momentum. Ed Duggan did make a swift break down the wing but was unlucky to be stopped on the line.
After an extended period of pressure from Harborough, Mathew Stamp was able to pick and go from the base of a ruck to break the deadlock. Will Hallam converted from wide out against the wind, to make the score 7 – 0.
Old Scouts came back strongly at the home side. Harborough put in some great defensive work under pressure, particularly from Cameron Jordan, Harry Grimmett and James Melody, and shut out the opposition. Then came another break from Duggan, taking the ball with much work to do and beating three players to score the try. Hallam again converted, to make the half time score 14 – 0.
The second half started with Old Scouts again enjoying plenty of possession. Harborough’s defensive line held strong though, occasionally pushing out too quickly to concede penalties. Max Dalby had a trademark run down the wing displaying his strength on the charge, and was unlucky not to score.
Ross Primrose put Harborough out of reach with a try in the final quarter, before Henry Povoas rampaged through the visitors to score under the posts. Hallam converted again to make the final score 26 – 0.
