U14 'A' team v Burton

Market Harborough U14 'A' team travelled to Burton in what was the first ever fixture between the two sides.

Having overcome the challenge of finding club, with Satnav taking players to different parts of Burton, and then the challenge of finding the pitches, which were nowhere near the club, the team started to prepare for the match ahead.

Harborough started with a strong breeze behind them and soon got into their stride with the forwards winning the early exchanges. Ted Smith soon powered over for the first try which was soon followed by a try for Ben Holland after powerful forward work. Matt James converted.

It was then the turn of the backs with Morgan Riseley picking up two tries, the first with an excellent run round the defence and the second following good movement of the ball along the backline creating space for Morgan to run half the length of the pitch. Both tries were converted by Matt James making it 26-0 at half time.

The second half saw Harborough play against the wind in a very scrappy stop/start half with the whistle a constant feature. The half saw Harry Glynn score after a characteristically strong run, a powerful forward drive which covered a third of the pitch and a battling captains try from Sam Eveleigh who couldn't score without making sure he found additional contact when already clear and over the line!!

Final score, 36-0 to Harborough.
