On a very very wet Sunday morning our U14's had a tough game against a strong and well drilled Nuneaton side.
A couple of missed tackles led to MH letting in two early tries, which gave the Nuneaton team some real momentum. Nuneaton continued to run some clever lines off ruck ball and seemed to brake through the MH defence at will. It was not long before they had 4 unanswered tries.
MH then shuffled their players which had a positive effect with the ball moving more swiftly from first and second phase. Following a stern half time talk, MH came out a different team with a solid defence and showed great spirit to drive Nuneaton back and put them under pressure. Despite being driven back in the scrums, MH stayed really positive.
Following a great defensive team effort from MH, they managed to steal the ball from a maul in their own 22, and move the ball quickly out to, birthday boy Elliott Powell, who scored a well deserved try for MH and converted it.
In the final few minutes of the game Nuneaton managed to steal another couple of tries, which left a score line that flattered them.
Although it was a good team effort, there were a few players that stood out for their real positive attitude Jacob Shearing, Jed Simpkin, Kurtis Kreighton.
It was great to see a group of players who had lost their game, who were cold and very wet, get back into their dressing rooms with a smile on their faces with a great banter. A great testament to rugby and a super team spirit.
