A win in the wind

Storm Ciara did it’s best but Hurricane Harry had the upper edge. In conditions that only the hardy ventured out in, the Harborough boys spent the first half facing a ferocious wind and a tough opponent who were strong at the breakdown. A day like today was not going to be pretty but despite the 50mph wind in their faces, Harborough stuck to their brief, punching holes in the defence and reached half time in the lead thanks to a try by Slaughter. As Farrell showed yesterday, the weather wasn’t consistent with scoring much with the boot and into that wind it was no surprise that the score stayed 5:0
In the second half, it remained a really tough game but Slaughter doubled his personal tally and this time converted too for a 12:0 lead.
Clowes made a fine run from centre being held up just short but Bellamy was on hand to snipe through and add a third try. Harborough’s final points came when G Williams was first to react to a loose ball over the opponents try line for a score of 22:0
Despite finishing the game a player down, this was a fine performance in difficult conditions against a tough opponent but Harborough are in the U14 cup final.
