This was a fantastic game of rugby played by two fully committed teams. Whilst Harry Slaughter scored 5 tries, much of the win was secured at the breakdown with the Harborough boys shading a tight contest against strong, physical opponents.
The game had barely started before Harry got his first, but any thoughts that it would be a one-way affair were soon dismissed as Syton fought back and after sustained pressure breached the Harborough defence to level. A couple more for Harry followed, but again Syston pulled one back.
Ollie Mason then got in on the act with a fine individual effort, again Syston narrowed the deficit before Harry added his 4th for a 5:3 lead at half time.
In the second half, a fine team move was finished off by Harley Williams breaking through the defensive line to score, before Harry added his 5th. Syston started to again pressurise and kicked deep into Harborough territory. The ball was gathered by Ben Clowes who shrugged off attempted tackles and ran the full length of the pitch to score what proved to be the last Harborough try.
Syston pressure then paid off and they added a couple of tries to narrow the gap, but time for a fightback ran out with Harbouugh winning 8 tries to 5.
