U8's retain the County Cup

The under 8’s played in the County Cup hosted by Syston. The forecast was for rain but the day was windy and remained dry for the tournament. The squad consisted of Edward Bradnum, Hal Eastwood, William Groves, Ned Corry, Ned Bellamy, Harry Slaughter, Oliver Barbosa, Thomas Kimble, Max Fletcher and Ronnie Collis

A great start to day saw Harborough v Lutterworth, with Harborough securing an 8-5 victory. The team played well together with some great tagging and offloading to score. Tries from Eastwood, Bellamy, Corry, Bradnum and 4 from Slaughter.

Their second group game was against Loughborough, a tightly fought game resulting with another win for MH 6-3 with tries from Groves, Bradnum, Barbosa, Kimble and 3 for Slaughter. That saw Harborough win their group and progress in the cup. The second Harborough team also won their group, with a try in the last play of the game against Stoneygate to draw.

Harborough 1 faced Lutterworth's other side in the quarterfinal and were again victorious, including a memorable try for max Fletcher who side stepped their whole side. Harborough 2 found Hinckley too strong so they entered the Bowl competition instead.

Harborough 1 faced Market Bosworth in the semi-final and in another tight game, the Harborough defensive play proved the difference in a narrow victory. They then met Hinckley in the final. This was a closely fought game with fantastic defending by both teams. Market Harborough took the lead via a turn over ball and managed to defend their lead. The final as expected was a close game resulting in Market Harborough winning 6-4, including a hatrick for Eastwood and becoming County Champions again.

Harborough 2 won their semi-final and in drawing the final shared the County Bowl in a clean sweep of the top trophies for the Under 8's.
