Match Report Market Harborough RUFC – Under 8’s – 29.11.15
On a very windy but thankfully not so wet, Sunday 29th November, a team representing Market Harborough RUFC Under 8’s joined 39 other teams from around the Midlands to take part in the Leicester Tigers Tag Festival.
They were drawn in a group alongside Lymm, Kenilworth, Ashby and Belper.
Things didn’t start well with Harborough losing 5-2 to a very good Lymm side, with consolation tries being scored by Rhys Carter and Charlie Rodgers.
Next up were Kenilworth and in a game that swung back and forth. Freddie Williamson led the scoring with a hat trick with Jack Glover and Marcus Southwell scoring a try each. Despite the excellent tagging of Max Henderson Harborough lost 6-5 to a last second try.
Game 3 saw a much improved display with tries from Jack Glover, Marcus Southwell (2) and Woody Redfern steering Harborough to a 4-2 win over Ashby with Charlie Rodgers outstanding.
After a mid-tournament coaching session by Steve Beaufoy and his team, the final game produced Harborough’s best result of the day. Lots of determined work by Tom Vickers paved the way for Marcus Southwell to score 4 tries assisted by Freddie Williamson (2) and Jack Glover resulting in a 7-2 victory.
A very enjoyable day was rounded off by a visit to Welford Road to see Leicester Tigers beat Bath (22-11) along with the opportunity to meet the Tigers First Team Squad.
