Ross played the majority of his rugby at Gores Lane but captained the 1st XV in the 1989-1990 season, which was our first at Northampton Road. Ross was a tenacious and competitive back row player, always rallying his troops on match days.

Club Chairman, Phil Jarvis said " Ross was a top bloke and we shared some great memories both on and off the pitch. This is very sad news and our thoughts are with his wife, Steph".

Ross' funeral will take place at Holy Trinity Church, Coverham, in Coverdale, North Yorks DL8 4TQ on Thursday April 14th at 2pm. All are welcome to attend.

• At the Family's request guests should not feel obliged to wear mourning clothes.

• Afterwards at The Blue Lion pub in East Witton DL8 4SN (from 3pm).
