Market Harborough U18 Girls got their season off with a flying start

Market Harborough travelled to Long Eaton to compete in the NLD Festival.

In their first game against the POW Cluster, the opposition got off to a great start and scored 3 well-taken tries. In the 2nd Half, Harborough found their rhythm and the defence was much improved. No further tries were conceded and Harborough were unlucky not to score themselves. Final score POW 21 Market Harborough 0.

Harborough then played Ashfield and found themselves again defending for large periods of play. Ashfield’s excellent recycling of the ball proved too much for Harborough, who went into the Break 19-0 down.. Once again though, the 2nd Half was much improved and some strong running from Gina Watson led to Harborough’s first try of the day. Harborough limited Ashfield to a single try in the rest of the game. Final score Ashfield 24 Market Harborough 5.

Harborough played the hosts in their final game and finished the day in high spirits. In the first half, strong running and great support play from all the players led to 3 tries; these were scored by Olivia Perrin, Tabitha Copson & Phoebe Andrews (converted by Hannah West). The 2nd Half was a repeat of the first with Harborough controlling the play well. 3 further tries came from Olivia, Cassie Holyoak & Sabine Brewster (converted by Tabitha Copson).
