Oakham 44 Harborough XV 22

Harborough's sixteen players first challenge on arrival was a 50 man Oakham squad. Undaunted by the numerical advantage Harborough thundered into rucks and mauls and managed to keep the game close with surging runs from Ed Sumpter and Danny Voss.

With club chairman Phil Jarvis playing scrum half and managing to get to every other breakdown distribution became a slight issue. However George Lee's silky skills at fly half managed to rescue much of the erratic passing. Jake Ablett had to leave the pitch with a shoulder injury and Harborough benefitted from a couple of guest players.

Ed Sanderson, Ethan Godefroy, Ed Prowse and Michael Alcorn were committed to the cause throughout the match. Jobe Jeacock, Alex Wright and Sam Blades also put in a good shift in the front row.

Flying winger Tom Lee used his size to steam roll through many tackles to pop the ball to Ed Sumpter for the 1st Harborough try.

The second half saw Fergus Clarke and Luke Riordan put in some stylish runs which led to Nick Barana scoring. Danny Voss made a number of sortees into the opposition half and richly deserved the man of the match.

The opposition backs began to take control in the final quarter as Harborough ran out of steam. However the Hog roast and Beer festival that followed soon lifted everyones spirit.
