Having struggled to get fifteen players onto the pitch Market Harborough 2ndXV lost out in a closely fought contest between two evenly matched teams 29-17.
The home team scored first from close range to take a 5-0 lead. But once Harborough settled into the game they began to exert some dominance with good interplay between the backs culminating in a well worked try from Fergus Clarke with Henry Davies converting for a 5-7 score line. Minutes later Joe Whitworth jinked his way through for a second try again after good work from the back line. Davies converted again to extend the lead to 5-14. S&L scored a converted try on thirty minutes but Davies converted a penalty for 12-17 half time lead.
Harborough were immediately on the back foot from the start of the second half conceding an early try. But they never gave up fighting and made their hosts work hard very every ball. Matters were not helped when some decisions did not go their way. S&L kept the pressure on through their much heavier pack running in two more tries for a final score of 29-17.
A big personal thanks goes out to the team for putting in a great effort despite the odds being stacked against them in a variety of ways!
