An early Charlie Standley brace of 'roadrunner' tries gave Harborough a good start. For the second match in a row Nick Airey broke through in midfield and scored underneath the posts, Iain Barnett converted to give the visitors a 17-0 lead. With Ed Prowse leaping well in the lineout and Iain Barnett feeding the back line runners, Harborough looked like they would keep the scoreboard ticking over.
However, the Old Newts forwards began to win more and more ball and after using the wind wisely, the home side stormed through Harborough defence to make it 17-5 at half time. George Clarke was particularly tenacious in defence putting in some blitzing tackles.
Although Harborough saw plenty of ball in the second half, Old Newts tackled well and Harborough were thwarted a number of occasions. In a series of runs that can only be described as 'like watching ten pin bowling', Aaron Lyle finally crossed the whitewash to extend the lead to 22-5.
With Harborough making a number of changes the evergreen Nick Watson surged over in the corner to complete the scoring.
Coach Tom Dyke commented, 'This was a solid performance and we have grown in confidence over the last few weeks, the lads have now picked up a couple of wins with some lovely running rugby'.
