Harborough 2nds made the short journey to Corby to face Stewart and Lloyds with another largely young side but the home side were no match for the pace and determination of the young guns. The forward exchanges were even but the pace and skill of the back line proved decisive as within 5 minutes the ball went to Joe Margetts who burst through tackles in his own half and sent defenders the wrong way as he raced through to touch down under the posts for Nick Airey to land the conversion. Each side then lost a player each to the sin bin with Corby reducing the arrears with a penaltyt before the play evened out until the 20th minute when Harborough took the game by the scuff of the neck. First it was Harvey Slade who seemingly ran the wrong way but his pace was such that he ran behind the back line to touch down on the opposite side of the pitch. The try was unconverted but within 2 minutes Harborough extended their lead as Joe Margetts finished off another strong attack and with the conversion added Harborough were 19-3 to the good. This became 26-3 when straight from the kick off Finlay Clarke shrugged off tackles and raced clear to touch down under the posts for Airey to add the conversion. A further try came before half-time, this time from the forwards with Tom Lee taking the final pass to touch down under the posts and Airey's boot gave Harborough a 33-3 half-time advantage. In the second half Harborough carried on as before with Margetts once again making the break and off-loading to the supporting Jamie Thorpe to touch down. 2 minutes later it was Thorpe who made the break to pass to Margetts who touched down for his hat-trick try. Harborough continued to impress but started to concede penalties. This did not prevent Harborough scoring a further try and perhaps the best of all with backs and forwards all involved before Airey took the final pass to tough down to bring his personal tally to 13 points. Although Harborough continued to dominate all phases they were unable to add further points as they were penalised at almost every line, out, scrum, ruck and maul with very few understanding why. This killed the game as a spectacle and allowed S&L a consolation try with the final play of the game that with the conversion brought the final score to 48-10 to Harborough. This was an excellent all round team performance with all players giving their all, none more so than Josh Jones and Loz Plant in the forwards and another promising performance from Jayk Dressler at tight head in his first season of senior rugby.
