Harborough seconds had already beaten Lutterworth twice this season and were hoping to make it 3 out of 3 but that was not to be. It is always a close contest and this time it could not have been closer. Lutterworth had the advantage of the wind in the first half and dominated territory and possession with their very strong pack to the fore. They took the lead through a penalty but could not cross the line and a half-time lead for the vsitors of 3-0 gave Harborough hope that they could overturn the deficit. Lutterworth however had different ideas and continued to put Harborough under pressure in tight and loose play putting scrum half Fergus Clarke under huge pressure but typically he rose to the occasion and put in a great performance. Harborough drew level through a penalty by Nick Airey but did not come close to securing that elusive try. Lutterworth on the other hand were determined to attack and spent much of the half in the Harborough 22 but the home sides defence was once again outstanding as they put in tackle after tackle not least in the final 10 minutes. As the final whistle blew Harborough were no doubt relieved that they had secured the draw but it was nothing less than their efforts deserved.
