Andrew Jarvis made a rare appearance for Harborough seconds and showed the watching Jarvis senior how to score tries with an excellent hat-trick

Andrew Jarvis helped orchestrate Harborough 2nds as they overcame Old Newtonions 24-5. Harborough were once again only able to field 15 players and the game was played with uncontested scrums as Harborough were again short of front row players. This was probably to Harborough's advantage as Old Newtonions had a very big pack.

Harborough did however have strong runners and credit must go to the Harborough defence for excellent tackling, keeping the home side out as they played with the wind advantage in the first half. The Harborough pack battled hard in the loose, none more so than Sean Morris and Lee Butler. Kev Howley's industry and experience also helped shepherd a young Harborough side.

Harvey Slade playing out of position at scrum half also ensured that the backs had good ball to use, and use it they did to great effect first through the pace of Liam Southall whose 'turbo charged' run beat the Newts defence after twenty minutes.
Then on the half hour mark Jarvis stormed through a gap to touch down beneath the posts with Nick Airey converting to put Harborough 12-0 up at the break.

The pattern continued in the second half with an even contest but Harborough always looked much more dangerous in attack. Jarvis added his second as he glided through to touch down in the corner as Newts covered the supporting players, but forgot the man in possession.

The forwards, through Ryan Gibson driving runs and Henry Moss's lineout supply, kept Harborough's backs in the game. After a couple of mid field breaks Andrew Jarvis added his third as once again he was on hand to accept an offload. Airey added the extras. Old Newts did however keep on attacking and eventually got a deserved touch down in the corner to bring the final score to 24-5.

Harborough should have scored more and may well have done so if they had kept to simple plays, but another win was both deserved and welcome. Praise should also go to the referee who played his part with consistent decision making and excellent communication and also to the home team for great hospitality.
