Seconds show pace and strength to overcome Olney

Another new look Harborough seconds put in an excellent performance to overcome Olney 2nds. With pace and strength throughout the team they proved much too strong for the visitors.The first try came after 10 minutes when strong running centres Andrew Jarvis and Joel Nance combined for Nance to touch down. Two minutes later the roles were reversed for a Jarvis score. Nick Airey added the extras and then intercepted one of many poor passes by Olney to run in from 40 metres and kick the conversion. Further tries followed, first from a tap penalty for Lee Butler to score and then Laurence Tandy got in on the act following an excellent forward drive. Olney then hit back with a well taken try but scrum half Harry Miles got a deserved try to bring the half-time score to 36-5 to the home team. The second half was much more even not least as Harborough lost a couple of players through injuries. Olney scored the first try of the half before a line out steal by Liam Southwell gave Butler the opportunity to add his second score before Jarvis ran in his second, both converted by Airey. There could easily have been more scores with the referee disallowing a Ben Windle touchdown for poor grounding and Jarvis knocking on after a kick ahead 5 metres from the line. Despite some excellent defence Olney managed one further touchdown to bring the final score to 50-15 to Harborough.
