The home side started strongly and scored twice in the first half to lead 12-0 but Harborough regrouped and staged a tremendous fight back in the second half with new recruit, James Russell, calling the shots from scrum half. He had come to watch the game but was press-ganged into playing and he did so with some style.
The first try was scored by Ben Lawniczak but it was Russell’s inventiveness and game play that stood out as he amassed a personal tally of 14 points with two tries and two conversions. There was also a try for Connor Kendrick who put in a sparkling performance at stand-off that won him the man of award and an excellent debut as skipper by Ryan Gibson who led from the front.
This was however a whole team performance that they can be proud of.
