Harborough seconds travelled to Leicester Forest for a rearranged fixture on Saturday and with their team improving week on week they were confident of a positive result against a team that had struggled to get a team out most weeks. However in dreadful conditions on pitch that quickly became a mud bath their efforts were to no avail. Forest fielded a very strong team no doubt bolstered by a large number of first team players who were without a game that week. Playing down the slope Forest were soon on the score sheet with a converted try and shortly after from a quickly taken penalty they were 12-0 in the lead. Harborough however fought back with Harvey Slade prominent with Lee Butler and Laurence Plant punching holes in the defence. Good ground was made with Jack Williams running well but he could not cross the line. However from the resulting scrum Slade fed Butler and there was no stopping him from 15 metres out, Jake Thornton converting to reduce the deficit 12-7. Forest fought back immediately and scored another converted try before Harborough really turned it on. The backs ran the ball from their own half and the ever impressive Mike Lowe made excellent ground on the wing before passing inside to Rob Campbell to run in for the try, Thornton converted and the game looked close. Further pressure just before half time led to another Forest try but a deficit of 22-14 and playing down the slope the game looked winnable. But Forest injected more pace from their bench and although the pitch was becoming barely playable they ran in 4 second half tries to secure a 42-14 victory. Harborough should however take heart with an almost complete second team this was an excellent performance and they could leave Forest with their heads held high.
