It was always going to be a tough game against one of the strongest 2nds in the county. But when Harborough lost Joe Welsh within 5 minutes, with a serious nose break, the task became even more challenging. Despite Hinckley’s glut of possession, Harborough stayed in contention in the first half and turned round 3 – 27 down with a penalty from Henry Davies and some excellent defensive work.
The disparity in resources between the two sides was underlined at half time when Hinckley were able to add 4 new strong players to their team. In the end the greater power of a very strong Hinckley team showed through with Hinckley winning 8 – 65. Harborough can take great credit for battling on and managed to score a scintillating try through Ed Sanderson’s excellent catch and drive, ably assisted by George Lee.
