The first half saw the home side dominate territory and possession. But they were unable to convert their advantage into points. Eventually the deadlock was broken when Jonny Davies finished off some slick handling out on the left wing. Blair converted the try for a well deserved 7-0 lead.
Within three minutes the home crowd were celebrating a wonder try from hooker Stefan Ziemelis. Laying claim to be ‘the fastest forward’ in the club, he backed up his words with a 50 metre dash for the line. He picked up the ball on the half way line, broke a tackle and sprinted for the line, racing past the last defender with ease. Blair converted for a 14-0 lead.
The celebrations were short lived when two lapses in concentration saw Tamworth level the match at 14 all.
Tamworth began the second half with more purpose taking the lead with a penalty, 14-17. Harborough gathered themselves and began to exert pressure in the Tamworth half. But they repeatedly let the visitors off the hook through unforced errors and infringements. However, Harry Hurst regained the lead with a well taken try. The backs showed good hands and interplay and Hurst went over in the left hand corner. Harborough's lead of 19-17 was short lived as Tamworth hit back with another penalty to lead the game 19-20. On 65 minutes Blair stroked home a penalty for a 22-20 lead.
The remaining fifteen minutes were an uneasy affair for Harborough as Tamworth missed two kickable penalties.
Mark Thornton, Harborough’s forward coach said “This was a hard fought victory where we only showed glimpses of our potential “.
