U15s v Shipston

The road trips continued this week with Market Harborough u15s finding the hospitality of Shipston-on-Stour rfc.

The weather was dry but there was a swift breeze down the pitch.

The first 10 mins saw the teams sizing each other up with play bouncing backwards and forward between the teams. Harborough got their act together first with Williamson crossing the whitewash and Mrtynek converting.
Shipston then found their rhythm and showed they too could string some forward dominated plays together to move up the pitch and cross the line but their kick fell short.

Play continued with many strong tackles being put in from both sides before Harborough’s back line finally got the upper hand and showed their pace with Garner scoring and Mrtynek kicking the conversion.

The half time whistle was blown and the scoreboard stood at 5-14.

The second half continues in very much the same vain with some periods of great defence on both ends of the pitch.
Harborough’s repeated infringements at the breakdown resulted in a yellow card and Shipston took the opportunity to breach the defence to score a try to bring the score to 10-14.
Again this spurred the Harborough backs to show their handling skills and the ball reached Moore on the wing for him to race in behind the posts. This was duly converted by Mrytnek to stretch the score to 10-21.

Not to be outdone Shipston-on-Stour seized a final try from line out play and this time converted it to bring them to 17-21.

The final whistle blew after a great physical game. We wish all those who had to leave the field of battle due to injury a swift recovery.
