On a fantastic morning for rugby, Harborough u13s A team entertained Bromsgrove.
The home team started excellently with the backs linking well, Jack Houlihan and Harry Glynn creating space for the inform wing Taran Mann to outstrip the Bromsgrove defence to score in the corner converted by Tim Gp.The second try was quick to follow Taran Mann this time using his kicking skills, Chipping over the top of the advancing defence another deft kick forward and dropping on the ball for the try. A fantastic individual effort. Bromsgrove rallied and started to get involved in the game. the home forwards certainly new they where in a game the breakdown eagerly contested by both packs. Harborough found themselves being pushed back towards their own try line by some fine play from the visitors, they gave away a penalty five meters from the their line, failed the get the defence organized quick enough and conceded a try. The Home side picked up the pace again, moving the ball wide when possible, Joe Lafferty making some darting runs from his wing. The forwards where not to be out done, went through some pick and drive phases resulting in Thomas Manz crashing over from close range once again converted by Tim Gp. Bromsgrove came straight back again trying to work their way up the pitch. Harborough's defence stood strong, good line speed and tackling not allowing Bromsgrove time with ball eventually as they tried to force a pass Mann intercepted to run the length of the pitch to score his hatrick, Tim Gp converting. 26 - 5 HT
Harborough started quicker then their opponents, a break from Oscar Dean seeing him tackled just short of the line a quick ruck and Ben Holland found himself in space to score. Bromsgrove dominated possession for the next 15mins but the Harborough defence stayed solid Sam Eveleigh and Ben Richards causing problems at every breakdown not allowing the visitors quick ball. After soaking up all the pressure it was the home side who broke free good interplay between forwards and backs moving them up the field quickly for Ben Holland to score his second.
Final score 36 - 5
Great game of rugby from both sides, thanks to Bromsgrove for making the trip.
