U13's lost in the Forest

Michael Fletcher25 Oct 2015 - 14:20

A tough trip to LFE

Harborough travelled to Leicester Forest where they shared an entertaining match with the hosts which was in truth far closer than the final scoreline suggested. Harborough soaked up early Forest pressure before the home side passed the ball out wide to the left wing and a missed tackle created a 2 on 1 allowing them to score in the corner. From out wide the conversion was missed, 0:5. Harborough replied however and after nearly scoring earlier in the move, the ball reached the lively Joule who stepped one defender before releasing the ball to Smith to score. Stockley converted, 7:5. That was the last time Harborough led though and they conceded 2 tries, one of which was converted to trail 7:17 at half time.
The second half started how the first ended with more missed tackles allowing Forest through and two more tries followed, one converted for a 7:29 deficit.
Heads were initially down, with some injuries received too, but Harborough bounced back and a period of sustained pressure eventually paid dividends with some intricate passing releasing Stockley to score in the corner. Joule was very unlucky with the difficult conversion attempt, hitting the bar from his attempt from the edge of the pitch. Final score 12:29.
The middle period of the game cost Harborough any chance of victory, but there were positive points in the play too, not least the return into the fold of Frank Clarke from his sabbatical to South Leicester.
